Rhian, magiging big star’

HOY, Ian F., ’di ba madalas naming banggitin sa ’yo na among the young talents ng GMA-7, kay Rhian Ramos kami may kakaibang pulso?

If properly handled, Rhian can be a big star, say pa namin.

Who can really best handle and help her than her auntie, Ida Henares, who is head of the talent arm ng GMA-7, Artists Center?

Nang sinabi namin ito sa ’yo, Ian F., nabanggit din namin na ’di pa namin siya nakikita nang personal.

Well, Ian F., we finally did see her in person recently. Sa isang event organized by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), currently headed by Fernan de Guzman (Ms. F. to Ogie Diaz and us).

The more na kumbinsido kaming it is just a matter of time before Rhian becomes a big star. But, we repeat, she’s a pretty face na ’di overwhelming, pero may kakaibang dating.

Kaya marami sa kung sinumang followers niya ngayon ang kaagad ay makaka-identify sa kanya.

Call it coincidence, Ian F., but this feeling na nadarama namin for Rhian is the same na naramdaman namin when we first caught sight of Angel Locsin nang una namin siyang makita sa wake ng nasira niyang boyfriend na si Mico Sotto (hoy Angel L., naalala mo man lang bang ipagtirik ng kandila si Mico noong Araw ng mga Patay?)

Itanong mo pa kay Annabelle Rama, who was seated with us and Dolor Guevarra nang unang araw ng wake ni Mico.

It was we who suggested to Mother Lily Monteverde to sign up Angel to a contract. We didn’t know her then. Neither did she know us.

WHAT would work to Rhian’s favor is that she is still young. Sixteen years old lang siya at maganda ang background.

Her dad is a Briton named Gareth Howell. Her mom is a sis of Ma’am Ida.

It’s good to know that in her next soap for GMA-7, Rhian will be playing the role played by Sharon Cuneta in the movie My Only Love.

Nakapanghihinayang nga lang that she’s not attending regular school. She’s on a home study program. Third year high school lang si Rhian.

Gladys Reyes may bagong career

Bilib talaga kami kay Gladys Reyes. Nu’ng muli namin siyang makita ay nagulat na lang kami na ibinalita niya sa amin na meron na siyang isang lifestyle/ reality show.

Excited si Chic Chic (palayaw ni Gladys) about this show at talagang natatawa pa siyang sinabi sa amin na, “Kina-karir ko na talaga ito! I wanna do something else kasi na hindi pa alam ng mga tao.” Nakilala si Gladys bilang isang sikat na kontrabida sa telebisyon at pelikula pero ayon sa aktres, gusto naman daw niyang maipakita sa lahat that she can do something else.

Moments ang title ng show ni Gladys sa Net 25 (channel 18 sa home and sky cable) at talagang iso-showcase ng palabas na ito ang iba’t ibang levels ng pagiging isang ina, na ayon pa kay Gladys ay isnag mahirap pero masarap na full-time job.

May iba’t ibang segments ang Moments gaya ng 24/7 that tackles more on celebrity moms at ang kanilang non-stop job. Ang Moms on the Go naman ay segment tungkol sa practical tips sa bahay at kung anik pa. Sa ibang segments gaya ng Moms ABC ay magi-invite rin daw sila ng guests gaya ng child psychologist and other experts para matulungan silang i-discuss ang iba’t ibang concerns ng mga mommies.

Ilan na rin ang mga celebrities na naimbita ni Gladys para sa kanyang show. Na-tape na raw nila ang mga ito. In fact, ilan sa mga paborito niya ay ang guestings nina Mariz and children dahil nag-live appearance pa raw si Ronnie Ricketts.

Naikuwento rin ni Chic Chic na naging bahagi rin si Ms. Cristy Fermin ng Moments. Isa raw ito sa pinaka-touching episodes ni Gladys. Alam ng lahat na bihira lang ipasilip ni Tita Cristy ang tahanan niya. Pero this time nagsalita pa raw ang mga anak ni Tita Cristy at pati na ang butihing ina ng TV host.

Napaiyak daw tuloy si Gladys.

Kaya abangan natin ang Moments ni Ms. Gladys Reyes- Sommereux ( natutuwa talaga si Chic sa apelyido niya dahil pang-mayaman daw) sa Nov. 10 (Sabado) 6-7p.m. at may re-run tuwing Linggo 11-12 noon sa Net 25.

JEAN FINALLY BREAKS SILENCE

JEAN Garcia finally talked about her alleged warning to her daughter Jennica and Mart Escudero to use a condom. “I will never say such a thing so I hope they won’t put words into my mouth,” she says at he presscon of Regal’s new horror flick, “Hide and Seek.” “What I told them is unahin ang career kaysa pag-ibig. We asked Mother Lily why she’s building up Jennica. “I saw her on TV and she acts very well. She’s like her mother, Jean, very talented. I’m positive she’ll make it kasi we need to build up a new generation of stars. I’m sure magki-click din ang love team nila ni Mart and ‘Hide and Seek’ is a good vehicle to introduce them to moviegoers.”

“Hide and Seek” is written by Gina Marissa Tagasa (based on a concept of Roselle Monteverde) and directed by Rahyan Carlos who megged the hit Dennis Trillo horror film, “Pamahiin,” last year. Jennica plays Jean’s daughter while Eric Quizon is her stepfather. They move into this old house that turns out to be haunted by three ghosts: Alessandra de Rossi, Ryan Eigenmann and Valeen Montenegro. This opens on October 31 and is a perfect Halloween presentation.

Susunod dito ay another game show na magsisimula sa Oct. 15 titled Send or Save na isang daily show din. Samantalang ang ikatlo, ang Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade V Pupil ay ipapalit sa Celebrity Duets.

Balitang nagku-concentrate ngayon ang GMA-7 sa game shows kaysa sitcoms.

Alessandra tahimik na ang buhay

TAHIMIK ang buhay ni Alessandra de Rossi ngayon kaya thankful siya.

Alex is part of the cast of Regal Films Hide And Seek that will launch Jennica Garcia and Mart Escudero in the big screen.

Parang ito nga ang pagbabalik niya sa local mainstream movie dahil in the past its either international o kaya independent. Her last horror movie was the Singapore hit The Maid more than two years ago.

Sa TV naman, nasa Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig siya bilang lead villain ni Yasmien Kurdi. Wala kang makukuhang kuwento ngayon kay Alex be it love life or bagong nang-aaway sa kanya.

Mas gusto niya raw ito kasi kahit ganoon katapang ang exterior ni Alex, pusong mamon yan, naiiyak talaga kapag may issue sa kanya. Kaya nga mas happy siya na hindi pinaguusapan, trabaho na lang ng trabaho.

Bodie looks better today dahil nagkalaman na siya. Hindi naman daw siya magpapa-sexy ha, just because he’s gaining some muscles.

Wala pang bagong show si Bodie after Love Spell, pero paalis-alis siya out-of-town and even out of the country for shows where he usually sings. Hindi ito surprising dahil he comes from a family of singer. TWO ‘ex’ Abt Ur Luv stars are part of the September birthday presscon ng Star Magic, pero parehong hindi naka-attend.

Among the first to leave the Saturday teen show of ABS before Pilipinas Game KNB is a favorite PBB Teen Edition housemate of ours, si Joaqui Mendoza. He prioritized his schooling sa Ateneo over career although may bago siyang show sa Channel 23, ang Rush TV kasama sina Dino Imperial and Say Alonzo. He turned 19 last Sept. 13 kaso school day ‘yun so hindi nakasipot sa birthday presscon.

After the first season naman, umalis na rin si Denise Laurel sa Abt Ur Luv dahil naging busy siya sa iba pang assignments sa ABS. Right now she’s part of Natutulog Ba Ang Di-yos and Pedro Penduko, and soon kasama rin siya sa Prinsesa ng Banyera.

Nasa Spain si Denise during the presscon taping an episode for Maaalala Mo Kaya. This Sunday pa lang ang birthday niya and she’s turning 20.

Expect to see them tomorrow sa ASAP.

KAHIT buhos ang ulan noong Monday night, buhos din ang magkahalong lungkot at saya ng cast ng Mga Mata ni Anghelita na nakipag-elbowhan sa mga invited entertainment press ng GMA7.

Parang farewell party dahil pa-exit na ang nasa-bing serye. Kundi kami nagkakamali, mga five nights to go na lang sa ere. Nandoon si Tuesday Vargas, hindi siya agad nakilala, kasi ibang-iba ang aura niya. Bata pa si Tuesday, pero lalong bumata at maganda.

UP graduate si Tuesday at tapos ng Masscom. Naggu-glow ang eyes ng comedienne nang makaharap namin, kasi super in-love siya sa kanyang dyo-wa ngayon na guwapo at may pagkabagets.

Kasamahan daw niya si papa sa bandang Topjunk at si Tuesday (Marizel Sarangelo in real life) ang soloist. Ipinagtapat ni Tuesday na may son siya na five years old, courtesy ng first guy na Atenista na nakarelasyon niya. Pero, matagal na silang split, kaya daw kayod-to-death siya, kasi walang sustento mula sa fadir.

As usual ang tanu-ngan, kailan daw ba papayat si Ryan Yllana na super-taba talaga. Gusto naman daw niyang maging slim. Kaya lang baka raw ‘pag pumayat siya mawalan na siya ng trabaho at mawalan siya ng datung. ‘Yung pagiging obese daw niya ang in-demand. Late night nang dumating si Krystal Reyes, ang star ng Mga Mata ni Anghelita. Natrapik daw ang ba-gets na galing pa ng San Jose,Bulacan. Mataba na siya ngayon. Kasi medyo maluwag na raw ang taping schedule niya. Naka-eye-glasses ang bagets, pero wala namang grado. Pamporama lang daw ‘yun.

Tinutukso si Krystal ng press people. Kasi nitong birthday niya, isang party ang idinaos sa isang expensive na lugar. Walang ginasta ang parents ni Kystal kasi si Paolo Contis ang sumagot sa gastos ng masayang birthday party niya.

Ang pinagkaabalahan lang ng parents niya ay invitations sa relatives, friends, classmates at lahat ng Kapuso cast and staff ng Mga Mata ni Anghelita.

GUSTO kong i-congratulate ang bagong TV show sa RPN9 na tipong magazine show at pawang serious stories ang itinatang-hal ng writers at researchers ng programang may pamagat na Banyuhay (Bagong Anyo ng Buhay). Initial presentation ito ng ETV na dalawang matitibay na broadcasters ang host, sina Angelique Lazo at Vic Dela Paz. Si Angelique, puwede nang ituring na matatag na haligi ng TV & Radio broadcasting.

Ilang dekada na rin siya sa kanyang chosen craft, nag-start siya sa ABS-CBN. Si Vic naman ay radio broadcaster ng DZME, matapang magbalita at may anghang ang dila, walang kinatatakutan at walang uurungan, kaya sila ang pinagsama sa Banyuhay sa direksyon ng batam-batang direktor na si Elmer De Vera.

‘I’LL JUMP OFF THIS BUILDING’

BILLY Crawford now rehearses his dance numbers every night to prepare for his “It’s Time” concert at the Araneta Coliseum on October 6. This early, some fans are expecting him to take his shorts off while dancing on stage. “I won’t do such a thing,” he says. “I don’t think one has to take off his clothes just to appear sexy. It’s better to just tease them with the way you move and dance or the way you sing. It’s more important to show it with much affection. What I assure the viewers is that they’ll good excellent production numbers similar to what they do in concerts in the U.S. complete with special effects and explosions, directed by Gabriel Hoareau who did the Athens Olympics opening and closing ceremonies.”

GMA7 hosted a special presscon for Billy Crawford to help promote his concert.

“Anak kasi namin si Billy kaya we want to help him,” says GMA exec Darling de Jesus.

“If ever anyone would ask about KC Concepcion again, I am going to jump from the top of this building,” Billy warns the writers who want to interview him.

Billy has already said sorry to Sharon Cuneta and to KC for jokingly saying in a radio show that KC is a good kisser. KC says she’s not mad at Billy. “Hindi naman niya siguro sinasadya na masabi yung ganun. Sa pagso-sorry niya, thank you.”

Billy has said he wants to invite her to his concert but KC is going with her mom to Canada. Will KC talk to Billy in case they’d meet by chance? “Why not? He doesn’t have to worry about it. Kaya lang, wala naman kaming dapat pag-usapan pa.”

Billy has prepared a world class show for his fans, pumped up with high energy production numbers sure to send the crowd dancing along with his Movers (the winners of his dance reality search show, Move): Aizel Moneva, Jobel Dayrit, Daniel Agbisit, AJ Sarate, Darcy Godoy, Mich Garong and JM Vergara. Expect the stage to sizzle with their adrenalin-charged dance numbers.

DENNIS HIDING SECRETS?

IS Dennis Trillo ready to admit that he’s really the father of the baby boy beauty queen Carlene Aguilar delivered in the U.S.? He denied it before but it’s common knowledge now that the baby has been registered with Ho as family name, which is the real surname of Dennis. He said he’ll issue an official statement next week. Maybe he got scared that being a dad might ruin his career as one of GMA7’s top actors.

“Ngayon, natakot naman siguro siyang makarma dahil parang itinatakwil niya ang anak niya,” observes someone.

But before that, will Dennis also confess that he’s now playing beautiful music with Cristine Reyes? They continue to deny it but everyone close to them says that the truth is they’ve really been on for sometime now but they’re hiding it from the public for some reason.

Marvin misses Angel

AT the farewell presscon for “Mga Mata ni Anghelita,” Marvin Agustin, who plays the Angel Gabriel disguised as a hunchback bellringer, says he’s happy with his career but his heart is sad “dahil iniwan ako ng taong mahal ko at hindi na siya babalik kasi pumirma na ng kontrata sa ibang istasyon.”

He’s apparently referring to Angel Locsin. How come he denied they had a relationship then, just like Angel? “Magulo kasi ang situation namin noon as I didn’t know where I stand, so ni hindi ako makapag-comment that time. Unstable ang relationship namin kasi wala talagang commitment. But we were so close at nandun talaga ‘yung friendship while we’re doing ‘Asian Treasures’.”

They no longer have any communication now. “But I’ve moved on and she has moved elsewhere, kaya tigilan na lang nating pag-usapan siya at baka ma-accuse pa akong ginagamit siya ngayon. Parang pangit namang biglang nagsasalita ako rito. I’m confident makakakita pa ako uli ng bagong inspiration. Noong magkasama kami ni Isabel Oli in ‘Mga Mata ni Anghelita’, natipuhan ko siya, kaya lang, girlfriend na pala siya ni Paolo Contis kaya wala na akong pag-asa. Talaga yatang lagi akong sawi.”

SUPER SEPTEMBER ON ‘SOP’

IT’S another Super September in GMA7’s “SOP” this Sunday. Witness the birthday party on air of the one and only ‘Tatay ng Showbiz,’ German Moreno. It’s a truly one celebration that befits a king. Meanwhile, the popular dance group, Universal Motion Dancers (UMD) will have a big reunion in “SOP.” There will be showdown among love teams.

Basil Valdez will have a surprise number along with “Pinoy Pop Superstar” year 3 champion, Maricris Garcia. Of course, international idol Billy Crawford will give a special number. “SOP” hosts Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, and others will have special performances, too.

Pag-iibigan nina Lovi Poe, Marky Cielo muling pag-uusapan

MULING nagbabalik si Lovi Poe sa telebisyon. Sa pinakabagong ‘action-teleserye’ ng GMA-7 na pinamagatang Zaido Pulis Pangkalawakan, ang singer-actress ay gumaganap bilang isang agresi-bong journalist. “I’m very excited with my new role on TV”, sabi ni Lovi. “Ako si Mona rito, isang newspaper reporter na sumu-subaybay sa mga kabayanihang ginagawa ng mga Zaido pulis”, paliwanag niya, at idinagdag pang, “may li-him akong pag-ibig sa Green Zaido na si Alexis na gina-gampanan ni Marky Cielo”. Sa katunayan, ang Zaido ang nagbabalik ng tambalan nina Lovi at Marky Cielo, pagkatapos ng matagumpay na Bakekang. “Masayang-masaya ako na maging bahagi ng mala-king programang tulad nito”, dagdag pa ng magandang dalaga. PAOLO ON GENDER QUESTION: DI NA AKO NAPIPIKON

AN actor who plays an unconventional role in “Zaido” is Paolo Ballesteros, who plays the cross dressing Ida garbed in a flamboyant woman’s costume. Why did he accept the role when he’s already being rumored to be gay? “I know the character of Ida kasi napanood ko ang Shaider noong araw and I know it’s a good role as I play the high priest of the Kuuma, kalaban ng Zaido,” he says. “Okay lang kahit bading siya. Thankful akong may trabaho ako at sa panahon ngayon, hindi na tayo dapat masyadong choosy. Kakaibang challenge ang role as Ida dahil transvestite siya. As for the people who question my gender, hindi na ako napipikon. Bale wala na lang. Basta pagbutihin ko na lang ang performance ko. They can criticize me for my performance but what I do with my private life, I don’t need to defend myself or prove anything to anyone as long as kilala ko ang pagkatao ko.”

Jealous Patrick threatens Jennylyn

THE fans of the Mark Herras-Jennylyn Mercado love team are jubilant that their recent reunion in “Magpakailanman” rated very well. Because of this, they’ll be paired again in the TV remake of the Sharon Cuneta-Gabby Concepcion film, “My Only Love” (their third movie after “Dear Heart” and “PS I Love You” and the first movie of Jackielou Blanco where she played Sharon’s rival over Gabby.) “I was told by Direk Louie about that, but no official notice yet from GMA,” says Jen. We’re glad Jen is active again on TV after her manager’s messy breakup with GMA-7 due to the Angel Locsin brouhaha. “I’m now under GMA Artist Center,” she says. “They deal with me directly na.” Jen is also doing two films. One is “Resiklo” with Bong Revilla for the Metro-Manila Filmfest. “Three more days at tapos na kami,” she says. The other one is a film about the nursing profession, “Nars,” where she co-stars with Jodie Sta. Maria, Agot Isidro, newcomer Jon Avila, and Coco Martin in the role of a gay nurse. This is directed by Adolfo Alix, Jr., who did acclaimed works like “Donsol” and “Kadin” and will also direct the Ken Zhu-Iza Calzado starrer, “Batanes.” Is it true Jen has split with Patrick Garcia? “No, nagtampo lang siya when I failed to show up sa birthday niya in ‘SOP’. But I got sick naman talaga. Sandali lang at okay na uli kami.” We heard that Jen’s mom is very happy about her reunion with Mark. “Mas boto talaga si Mommy Lydia kay Mark,” someone tells us. “Kaya ayun, nagseselos si Patrick nang husto at nagbabanta raw na pupunta na lang sa States para doon mag-aral after matapos ang ‘Fantastic Man’ niya with Mark.”
